construction, or auction professions and to enable you to keep your licenses up to date. This page is always being

There is a new system for obtaining your real estate salesperson's license in Michigan.
- Go to www.michigan.gov/icola.com
and create an account.
- Take the 40 hour pre-licensure course.
- Make an application for your sales person license using your icola account.
- Broker approves the application
- Click Here and print out page

Information Bulletin, which is the registration form. When you have completed the form, fax or mail it to PSI. The
charge is $48.00 which is payable by credit card, certified check or money order.
- Schedule your exam at www.psiexams.com; or call the 800
number on the fax application. If you do not yet have a broker, you may still apply online.
However, you will not be issued the license until you have signed up with a broker. www.psiexams.com offers a host of information, including a candidate handbook
containing all the relevant information about the exam and obtaining your license which you
may download and print.
NOTE: SALESPERSON CANDIDATES, YOU MUST COMPLETE THE FUNDAMENTALS COURSE BEFORE YOU TAKE THE TEST.
BROKER CANDIDATES, YOU MAY SIGN UP FOR YOUR TEST WHENEVER YOU ARE READY. THE BROKER LICENSE WILLNOT; HOWEVER, BE ISSUED
UNTIL ALL THE REQUIREMENTS ARE MET.

Enter your Michigan drivers license number and click on SUBMIT.
- Set up an accout name and password.
- In the "search" space at the upper left of the page, type in "Michigan real estate salespersons practice exam"
- A menu of courses will now open.
- As a disclaimer, I found three (3) questions on the Salesperson Sample #1 where I disagree with the answers.
One is a tax proration. They used a 36 day "month". I have written to them and am awaiting a response.

Broker Candidates, you may click on the above link for your experience forms and complete your education and then make
application. You are NOT a Broker until the license comes in the mail!
I know, it is hard to wait and you are eager to get going, so. . .a couple of weeks after you have applied you
should be able to go online and find your name. That means that in short time your license will come in the mail.
They will try to get it to you in less than a month. Don't get over-eager and begin "brokering" before it comes.

You will need a Fair Housing Poster. The logo doesn't have to be on your business card. HUD says it should be, but it is
still optional. To get the logo .
The Traverse Area Association of REALTORS® has the posters. If you are not a member of TAAR, check with your
Association office to see if they have them as well. HUD has three (3) offices in Michigan:

For a copy of the "Red Book", .
You will need to write a Policy and Procedure Manual. For guidance you may use mine as a guide. I do not intend for you to copy it. Your manual
is personal to your office. One of the more difficult portions of writing a Policy and Procedure Manual may
be the language for defining the style of agency that will be practiced in your office.
You will need an Independent Contract Agreement with your agents. For a copy 
What style of business shall you become? Sole Proprietorship? Partnership? Corporation? LLC? Check out the Michigan
Entrepreneur's Guide. 
There is also a NEW interactive website posted by the State of Michigan on setting up a business. This site
will take you all the way from establishing a name through getting additional licenses, such as a sales tax license.
